'Russian Railways' to receive 40 billion rubles for Sochi projects

The government plans to allocate 40 billion rubles to the 'RussianRailways' company in 2011 to construct transport infrastructure withinthe framework of preparations for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.The funds will be issued as part of the company's charter capital,Interfax reports. The government issued 60 billion rubles to thecompany in 2010 using the same scheme.'Russian Railways' will receive a total of 71.8 billion rubles thisyear for preparations for the 2014 Games.

Russian Railways invest 220 million rubles into the ‘Tuapse-Adler’ railroad

The construction of the ‘Tuapse-Adler’ railroad is being undertaken in the framework of the Sochi Olympics preparation program. In seven months the ‘Russian Railways’ company has allocated more than 220 million rubles to the project, RIA Novosti reports, quoting the official media-service of the company. The construction of this railroad branch should considerably increase the amount of passengers and cargo transported by the North Caucasian department of Russian Railways already by next year.

The Russian center of Russian language studies at the office of the Russian Cooperation in Armenia organized lessons in Yerevan for the staff of the South Caucasus Railway (SCR), News Armenia reports, citing the press-service of the office. Two groups of 5 station operators in Yerevan and Giumri had the first lessons. The chief engineer of SCR Sergey Arutiun and the chief engineer of cargo transport of SCR Georgiy Isaakyan noted that studying the Russian language would improve the efficiency of the staff's work.

1500 students begin summer work on Sochi construction sites

Nearly 1500 students from all over Russia arrived in Sochi to work on the construction of sporting facilities and infrastructure, RIA Novosti reports. The students have arrived from Kazan, Omsk, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk, Khabarovsk and many other Russian cities, as well as Kazakhstan and Armenia. 1500 students were chosen from 17,000 applicants. They will now work in construction teams together with skilled workers.

Grain shipment complex to be built in Abkhazia

The companies 'Russian Railways', 'Rusagrotrans' and Abkhazia signedan agreement on constructing a grain shipment complex capable ofholding 500,000 tons in Abkhazia, ITAR-TASS reports, citing the seniorvice-president of Russian Railways Valentin Gapanovich.The complex is situated near the state enterprise 'Sukhumi millplant'. Russian Railways noted that this agreement will providebenefits for Russian production when exporting and will improve theopportunities for shipping grain cargo in the Black Sea region.
